當時迪倫跟著瓊拜雅去演出，因為名氣還不高(或是穿得太邋遢)，結果旅館刁難他，不給他房間，後來迪倫很生氣，就在旅館房間寫了這首歌，只花了一個晚上！有興趣的可以去看2005年的狄倫的紀錄片：No Direction Home
